UVA Department of Spanish, Italian & Portuguese

BA21 was hired to redesign the UVA Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese in October 2007. One year later, the site is still not live, but is now available in our portfolio. Take a look at the development address to see the site in action.

Stay tuned for a new BA21.us website, which will focus on this UVA redesign as a case study.

Landers Underwriting

Launched: April 24, 2008

Harry Landers contacted BA21 on a referral from his son Waldo. Waldo is a long-time Charlottesville web developer. Waldo created the first Landers' website many years ago, and just didn't have time to redesign it when it became outdated.

This was a fun project to work on. I especially enjoyed figuring out a solution for the hundred's of PDF downloadable forms that the Underwriting firm offers their clients. The site is simple, clean, and clear.

The Second Road

Update: October 2007 This version of the website has been since taken offline. We are still really proud of the design, let us know if you would like to see a version of the site for review.

BA21 launched a pre-release version of The Second Road last month that is really exciting. The site has some cool features, but more importantly, it's run by good people who are trying to do something of service. The Second Road is a place for those affected by and recovering from addiction to share their stories, support one another, learn life skills, and live their recovery on a daily as well as long-term basis.

This is just a pre-release site, and does not have the social networking features that the main site will have. The intention was to present the idea, offer some initial video content, and link up with the HBO documentary special on addiction.

Some of the geeky features on the homepage are:

  • Flash video player
  • Video thumbnail carousel using AJAX
  • Videos are selected and viewed in Flash by way of the Flash - Javascript Integration kit
  • This allows for simple html / css design while interacting with the Flash Player
  • Blog powered by Textpattern
  • Signup Email lists by MailBuild
  • Google Analytics for site traffic analysis

Joan Griffin Tapestry

Launched: February 6 2007

The new website for Joan Griffin's Tapestry Studio is now online. Joan had an existing website for 2 years, which she designed herself. While in the process of designing the second version of her website, she got frustrated with the process.

Joan's son, Craig, owner of C'Ville Bike & Tri and a client of BA21, recommended that she get some help with the site.

The site consists of a simple, 2-column layout, with Textpattern content management. Joan's work is presented with a simple image gallery technique called Slimbox. Joan provided great input for directing the design.

Thanks for choosing BA21, Joan, and good luck with the new website. Your tapestry design's are amazing!
